Notice how 2 of the notes have torn corners? $2 bills were considered bad luck and if you receive one, you were supposed to rip off a corner to remove the bad luck. If you got a $2 with all 4 corners missing, you needed to either burn the bill or rip it in half (I've heard both versions). Just some useless info for the day
Among (too many) other things I collect small-size US $1 notes. There was only one red seal US $1 note. It's the Series 1928 United States Note. They were mostly released in Puerto Rico but not until 1948-49. Mine is definitely not CU but it's acceptable. Even in this grade the premium is pushing $100.
I've never heard this before. All I ever heard was elderly people with poor eyesight used to tear the corners on these bills so they could tell the difference between a two and a twenty dollar bill. I've seen numerous bills that have a corner or two blackened out for the same purpose.
The two that have all their corners might be worth $5 each. The one with the torn corners is probably worth face to a collector.
