Notice how 2 of the notes have torn corners?

$2 bills were considered bad luck and if you receive one, you were supposed to rip off a corner to remove the bad luck. If you got a $2 with all 4 corners missing, you needed to either burn the bill or rip it in half (I've heard both versions).

Just some useless info for the day

Nice examples of old notes. I wish BEP would re-issue the old reverse from these notes.

Among (too many) other things I collect small-size US $1 notes.
There was only one red seal US $1 note.
It's the Series 1928 United States Note.
They were mostly released in Puerto Rico but not until 1948-49.

Mine is definitely not CU but it's acceptable.
Even in this grade the premium is pushing $100.

Do mine have a premium? Km assuming 2 dollars each

I've never heard this before. All I ever heard was elderly people with poor eyesight used to tear the corners on these bills so they could tell the difference between a two and a twenty dollar bill. I've seen numerous bills that have a corner or two blackened out for the same purpose.

The two that have all their corners might be worth $5 each.
The one with the torn corners is probably worth face to a collector.

That’s exactly right. They’re probably racetrack deuces. Hope they picked a winner. :)

I always wondered why the corners were missing on most of the 2 dollar bills I have
