2005 P Minnesota State Quarter Error.

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by HollyRorieNetwork, Jan 14, 2020.

  1. I've visited numerous posts on the internet with the Minnesota tree error, but only found one (on this site) that came close to this error which appears in the area as more like a cloud above and next to the tree. I used this usb microscope for magnification. Any suggestions?

    @HollyRorieNetwork

    There are seven "Extra Tree" DDR's (801-807) listed in the Cherrypickers Guide, but this doesn't appear to be one of them. At the same time, the CPG provides no pricing information for these varieties. That tells me that they are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. What more can I say? ~ Chris

  5. Thank you for your time. Are those considered double die or die chips?

  7. I look through the "sold for" section to see what prices average myself , but I would like to word it accurately before listing it so as to be thorough in the description and not mislead anyone. It is circulated and ungraded.

  9. Thank you!

  10. I think it might be more fun to watch if set it up as an auction. It will benefit a charity.

    Suggestion: If you plan to list it on FleaBay, be sure to list it as a Doubled Die, not Double Die.

    NOTE: I'm not going to give you any advice about how you should list the starting price because, personally, I wouldn't pay a premium for this coin. ~ Chris

    Here are two of my personal experiences (that I can recall) of the results of eBay auctions:

    1) 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar, NGC MS65 (Monster Toned!) - I bid $1200.00 but lost the auction to a (snipe) bid of $1250.00. About one week later, a nearly identical 1883-CC was listed at auction, and I won it for $511.00.

    2) 1969 3-Medal Set of ANA National Convention Medals - I bid $150.00 but lost the auction to a (snipe) bid of $152.50. A couple weeks later, an identical set was listed at auction, and I won it for less than $50.00.

    Like I said, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. ~ Chris

    Technically speaking, it would be called a variety rather than an error, but I think you should have waited until you were able to determine the specific attribution.

  15. I can go back and edit my work. On some platforms I used error variety....since with this coin there are a well known variety of errors.

    I'm more of a mint error collector. I'm not into varieties that much. They don't interest me. But I will follow your ebay listings to see how they will do.
