A magician's coin is usually a two-headed or two-tailed coin made by hollowing one side out and cutting down another coin to fit in:

    Well it's definitely a quarter..
The coin guy said he didn't know much about error coins, but he would buy it from me for 15 bucks
I declined and walked out with my quarter

I spoke to the owner of The Coin Shop, he said he didn't know much about this error for that date he hasn't heard of or seen one and he would give me 15 dollars for the coin. I said awesome, put the quarter back in my pocket and walked out.
