I cannot determine if I have a legitimate 1983 DDR Penny or if the doubling on it is mechanical/machine doubling or some other kind of worthless doubling. I figured someone here would know. The doubling is not extremely significant, but is apparent when looking through a microscope.
I do think that this coin may be doubled. But I can’t be sure - wait for people of higher expertise. But if it’s not doubled, and I’m wrong, it still looks cool and can be used for future reference if you find anything like this again.
Is it a P? Can you take pics of the rest of the coin? Take good photos of the other areas (pictures you posted are good by the way, nice job) so that comparisons can be made. What I just looked up in VV looks "close" but the doubling is in the wrong direction on your coin so I dont think it can be that DDO-001. Post up some additional pics!!!
I would post a full view of the coin, but my camera is not great at catching such small details, so this is the best I can do for pictures unfortunately. The doubling is not very significant, as you can see, so it's hard to see it other than like this.
Ah, darn, well it'll be a good reference piece like @GH#75 said. Back to hunting the rolls then haha.
