    Hi all,

Came across an interesting penny today. It is very thin and weak and looks like it might be on the wrong planchet. The scale fluctuates between 1.6 and 1.8 grams. Any idea?

    Hope my pictures are ok.

Anyone? I am debating sending it to be slabbed.

Don't send it. This is yet another example of a cent that has been soaked in acid. It isn't and error. It is an altered coin and a guaranteed bodybag if submitted.

How could it lose half of its weight and still have detail? It is about half the thickness of a normal cent.

Because the detail you see is not on the top layer of metal, it goes most of the way thru the coin.

tis looks like another acid bathed Lincoln, we had a few of these earlier this month, Something fishy with the mint mark... Is that a P? that doesnt make sense, especially on a common date..
