I was going through my common coin horde when I had spotted this strange appearance. Im not sure if it is just MDD, or a true double die, but I decided to put it up here just in case.
It looks like die deterioration to me with a little circulation damage thrown in for good measure. ~ Chris
I think it's a mix. DDD is noticeable in the look of the devices; misshapen letters that transition from thinner to thicker. But there is also a shelf-like appearance in the lettering. That's MD. As for a true DDR/DDO, there are just three and one is an SMS coin. They are pretty minor so finding a circulated specimen, especially a liberated SMS coin, will be difficult. https://www2.briansvarietycoins.com/listings/cat/38
The doubling is on both sides of the devices. this is a common appearance on nickels with advanced Die Deterioration.
