Looking more like Die Deterioration doubling. Nickels dies from the early 80's were really ridden hard
Lol thanks. Again me and double dies don't get along. I only discovered one ddo nickel 1944 I believe.
Besides the usual descriptive, "flat and shelf-like", for machine doubling it also helps to note how the letters are narrower because the back-and-forth motion of the die has cut into the normal width of the letters. I hope that makes sense. ~ Chris
LOL, I had to see this post as with my dyslexia, I read the heading as "1983 pickle." Took me a third read to see what it really was.
...2 points: @Shrews1994 knows all about Wexlers...and she has become a very savvy forum member. We all get better learning from Coin Talk...and...doubleddie.com is not just a good site, it is one of the best sites...jmho...my 2 cents for 2 points. (I’m back in my corner with my coloring book now, no more danger here, move along folks...Spark)
A couple of your pictures made me think, "Oh yeah, I can see it." But the rest of the pictures confirm that it is in fact machine doubling.
