10 to the 100 power. Lol

Going thru a huge collection of a friend. Found this 10. Something doesn't look right. and no, I didn't circle them.

I don't know much about them but I think it's counterfeit.

 

Some fine work with a pen on the big zeroes? This made me pull out my wallet to check what the back of a 10 is supposed to look like, but I've got only the new style.

It says 10 but the number under thst is 100. Is that why it doesn't look right?

A novelty for sure. Made me do a double take before I figured it out and was confirmed by following posts.

I finally seen it, hard to see on my phone.

 

There was an article on these in Coin world back in the 70's. It was a very poor way of trying to pass a 10 dollar bill as a 100 by coloring in the center of the numbers with a pen or pencil.
