I said 45 so I don't think to resubmit would be wise.

I'd leave as is and be pleased. It is a great looking coin.

After seeing the slab photo, my AU50 grade was optimistic and I think that XF45 is the correct grade.

I understand you don't agree with the grading and you are possibly correct depending on when this coin was actually graded. The technology has greatly improved since grading began in 1986 in addition to the minting process too. So, there is a chance the grading of your coin could be corrected if you sent in without the present cover. These companies have a weird way of NOT over-turning a grade knowing it was theirs or the other company.

That said, the grading process is NOT without flaws either. When I began collecting many years ago, I do remember the Sheldon Scale and studied it intently. Experience and years included, I grade very well these days yet, I have noticed the modifications made by NGC and PCGS beyond a 70 grade, which I was taught is perfection. It appears some coins nowadays have a 70 with a Star, PL, DPL or DMPL making them worth more than a 70 alone. These grading companies are creating another tier of grading, collectability and money generation or marketability.

In closing, submit to NGC or PCGS but, be aware of their bias and need to hold some specimens lower for various reasons.

I'm just going to leave it. It is a nice coin and the grade does not particularly concern me. I chose it due to its eye appeal among other reasons. I have learned not to buy based on grade but rather on what will please me to have in my collection. :)
