I found these while searching uncirculated rolls of 2019P Lowell Quarters for W's. I found 10+ in 20 Rolls searched (No W's). I've seen the 'Burning Tower' and some other errors. I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this error. Also I'm curious if it's worth having some graded. Any info would be appreciated.
First, welcome to the neighborhood! It appears to be a die break, but I think you would be wasting your money having any of them graded just because of this anomaly. The major grading services would most probably decline attributing it because it is a typical result of die deterioration. The coins would have to grade at least MS68 to make any of them worth the expense. ~ Chris
It's a minor die break. Don't bother having it attributed. Put it in a 2x2 and show it for educational purposes.
The answers above are entirely correct. However, I still think it is a pretty cool find! It does look like a bird sitting there. I'd keep it in a 2x2 just because it is cool.
That's a nice find. If you put it in a 2x2 that uses staples be sure to squeeze the staples with some pliers to prevent damage to nearby coins.
