I can pretty much guarantee the pictures aren't doctored. I've bought plenty from GC and their photos have never been doctored. The photos tend to be a solid representation of the coin.
@thomas mozzillo wins by being closest to the $293.62 final price. This same coin sold for $174.90 in 2014 (also at GC). I valued it closer to $200 this time around (which ended up being almost $100 short of the high bid). It's actually quite tame. The following (some of which I've posted here before) were moon money. (this one surprisingly was from 2014-before I noticed a huge price surge at GC): https://www.greatcollections.com/Coin/168536/1885-O-Morgan-Silver-Dollar-PCGS-MS-62-Toned (this one I posted before) https://www.greatcollections.com/Coin/703577/1884-O-Morgan-Silver-Dollar-PCGS-MS-62-Toned https://www.greatcollections.com/Coin/706626/1884-O-Morgan-Silver-Dollar-PCGS-MS-62-CAC-Toned
Well, the first two have an entirely different level of toning, justifying a higher price. I feel bad for the person who bought that last 1884-O.
I agree both have nicer color. The first one is an obverse toner, but over $1k still seems high. The second is a reverse toner; so the price being near $1k on a 62 seems exorbitant. The third, while selling for less than the first, is arguably the weakest and again went too high in my view.
Since I was closest to the sale price it was my turn to post a coin. Since I don't have any toned coins, anyone is entitled to post a coin. If there's no coin posted yet, you may post the next coin. This is as per the rules of this thread.
