This Silver Iran 10 Rials lost a gram of silver through wear

    That's comparable in size to a US silver half, and I've definitely seen Barber halves that have lost a gram or more of weight. On Barbers, though, the rim is usually gone by that point.

    I can't quite tell from the photos -- does your coin have a porous surface? It might have suffered some environmental damage that dissolved away more metal.
