I must be a glutton for punishment but I am going again. I would like to know if anybody else is planning to attend. I think it is one of the best shows that one can attend for ancient coins. Once more the room rates are not that bad. One of the coins I purchased there was this one. It kind of fell through the cracks of the 10 best lists but It is a great coin Metapontion Nomos 400-340 B.C. Obv Head of Demeter left. Rv. Ear of grain. Noe 520 7.99 Grams 20 mm Ex Prospero Collection Photo by W. Hansen
I keep thinking I would like to go since I live in the area; but, ugh...schlepping. That coin is lovely. uncirculated???
Yes, I will be attending NYINC this year for the first time, although only for the bourse on Friday and Saturday. I have been alternatively excited when dreaming of great finds, and downcast knowing that top prices will be asked. It is encouraging to see your wonderful Nomos coming out of this show.
I've had a lot of luck buying privately in the last handful of years at the NYINC show. I'm planning on attending this year as well although my schedule is sufficiently hectic at the moment that I'm able to see roughly a week in advance, so, we'll see! Here are a few purchases that came my way from dealers at the show:
My wife and I are going. She will attend Vogue Knitting Live the same weekend. We attended in 2017, but the weeks did not align in 2018 so we did not go.
Yup, I’ll be there on Saturday for a few hours to peruse the bourse. @paddyman98 and I met up last year. Hoping to catch up with him again this year.
As usual, SPECTACULAR, Ancient Joe. A pleasure to see them and marvel at the skills of those ancient die cutters. Thanks!
Every year I think the same thing: next year I'm going to make it to the NY show! So far it hasn't happened . Really hoping that I can attend in 2021. Looking forward to seeing the treasures you find on the bourse!
I've wanted to go but the NY show and the Orlando FUN show, where I live, have almost always been on the same weekend ... until this year. Not only that but a dealer friend of mine asked me if I wanted to share his table, on Saturday only, at the NY show. I am really looking forward to the show, and hopefully meeting some of the CT folks there.
I'll be there Saturday for the bourse. Would anyone be interested in a meetup after-hours? If there's enough interest, I'll see if I can reserve a table at the bar downstairs.
I would be for that. In fact if anyone wants to see me i will be wearing one of these I also have a few to spread around.
I’m hesitant to go again. Last time I went my wife took me as a gift, but between what “she” spent on the hotel and meals I could have purchased some really great coins, and instead bought a few mediocre bronzes. If I go, I’m going down and back in a day, probably alone, and likely by train. What is parking in Manhattan for a day anyway? $75?
That's neat! I will be there Saturday I pay $2.75 to get there. I'm a half hour away on bus and train
I paid a $50 event parking rate last year right around the corner from Grand Central. You can do a little better if you don’t mind walking. The garage I park at near my office (44 and 8th) should be around $20-30.
@Terence Cheesman great idea with the buttons. How could I get hold of one? Is there a friendly dealer watching this thread who might be willing to keep them under the desk and hand them out to CT'ers?
Just realized that weekend is in between my thesis final submission and my first day starting full-time work. It's such a great opportunity for an excuse to visit NYC. I'm seriously considering flying down there.
