Hiyyyaaaaa @midas1 !!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Health, Prosperity, Happiness, Great Eats, Fun, Love and all good things for you and your family!! Going to read that article! :-D
Very interesting article. I always wonder about what happened to the person who buried these hoards of coins. Did they die before they could dig them up or did they lose track of where they were buried?
I went to read here... it might be some shopkeeper's personal secret emergency stash. https://www.haaretz.com/archaeology...nd-hoard-of-islamic-coins-in-israel-1.8328698 and it is a very small "horde" ...more like a 'stash' but nice... credit: Liat Nadav-Ziv, Israel Antiquities Authority ( @panzerman ) HAPPPPPY NEW YEAR @Deacon Ray !! and @panzerman and everyone! :-D
Hi M, Good to see you got a chance to read the article. I to wonder about the hx of ancient coin discoveries. Warmest regards and best wishes for a Healthy, Happy and a prosperous New Year for you and yours. Happy New Year All. Mike
From the Daily Mail article: Among the gold currency was a gold Dinar from the reign of the Caliph Haround A-Rashid - the man the Arabian Nights story was based on. Islamic Dinar Harun Al-Rashid AH 186 (AD 802) Gold, 18.5 mm, 4.02 gm, struck at Baghdad (Madinat Al Salam) Harun Al-Rashid (AD 786-809) was the Caliph of the "Arabian Nights" stories. Happy New Year!
Maybe they forgot where they put them? Deacon Ray, I can't tell you how many times I have hidden stuff so well that it can't be easily found when I want it.
