What is up with this 1964 Quarter?

New to hunting, and have a 1964 quarter that is about the size of a nickel in diameter, with deep edges on both sides.

Weight is correct for a 1964, which leads me to believe that someone put it in some sort of vice and hammered down the sides in an attempt to make a ring or something before giving up.

Probably worth keeping for the silver, but nothing beyond that?

    Thanks all!!!!!

Someone was spooning it to probably make a coin ring from it.

If it was a C reverse, that's too bad.
