And of course it will be 100% secure and none of your info or buying habits will be recorded, not even to allow us to bombard you with info ads or sell it to interested parties, we just want to force every dealer to participate at your expense. No , there is no one smart enough to hack your coins, Trust us.
I doubt that anything is 100%. Not even the Department of Defense can brag about that. But SmartTrack may bring some much needed confidence to coin buying.
Nothing is 100 percent, but there's different levels. This sounds like it's essentially going to be a road map of where coins aka a road map for robbers if they hack the system. There's really not a lack of confidence. If anything this might exacerbate one of the issues as a number of people feel they should be able to buy from dealer prices or get wholesale pricing for small orders. I'll wait and see more, but my initial reaction is I don't really see this catching on or being the norm
It's basically a tracking sticker put on the slabs. You're supposed to scan it and update the info anytime it changes hands. You're basically supposed to pay to have your coins put into a nationwide inventory from what they were saying. I'm sure I'm not the only one who won't be paying $10 a coin in order to have it tracked
Maybe not, but there was a time where it was a lot harder for them to find out what those dealer/wholesale prices actually were. In my opinion it's not a lack of confidence that's been the issue or inability to detect fake slabs but the blending of pricing like that. Wholesale sight unseen pricing is for big orders where you don't reject anything yet a lot of people seem to think that's relevant for picking a single best example. It is what it is and part of the reason for declining prices in common areas since if you have to sell for wholesale than you're going to be buying them under that
From what I gather it use the same MO as the chips on most credit card which allows you to just wave your card near the reader. But more info can be sent from the coin sticker to any reader if one knows how to ask for it. Something else to scrape off of a slab if I ever come into one. Certainly not going to pay to make my assets exposed as meager as they may be. IMHO, Jim
