It has been a very Merry Christmas. 20 years ago I acquired this tetarteron, An Alexius Constantinople issue, bronze in color it had an excellent obverse but the reverse was poor (Originally completely covered with verdigris and an uncertain attribution at that time.) I cleaned it and the reverse became VG, still not acceptable but I always loved the Christ portrait. Before anyone questions its condition, here is a pic from 2006, cleaning never really helped the reverse. I had always wanted a tetarteron in a form of Jewelry. This was the coin I had chosen, I just never did it. I mentioned this to my wife early this year, I showed her the coin I had always wanted to wear. She surprised me for Christmas, her design, very unique, the jeweler just enhanced it. I have never seen a design like it. I love it and I love her. Here is the present I received tonight on this Christmas eve. Have a very Merry Christmas All.
That’s a wonderful gift, @BenSi ! You’re very fortunate because your wife’s love is a wonderful gift also. Have a Joyful Holiday!
That is one of the best pieces of coin jewelry I've seen - and I've collected mounted coins off and on for 20 years or so. You guys should consider going into business! Lovely work.
Thank You very much, I relayed the compliment to Diane my wife. She blushed. She had the work done in Michigan, we are in FLA.
What a thoughtful and beautiful gift! I like the way the coin is set such that the coin's reverse isn't against skin.
While I generally oppose sacrificing a coin to jewelry, this is the right coin for the job due to the reverse condition. The mount is beautiful.
