So what would you do if you won a million dollars?

Catbert brought this up on another thread actually.

I know what I would do. I'd be immersed in coins more than ever. I would also probably continue working at the coin shop to stave off boredom.

I look at it this way. I love coins and always have. NOW I have access to more coins. Yes, Catbert money does corrupt.

    However,

If I could spend hours just looking through what comes in the door (I do it to an extent anyway) and help turn it for a modest profit fast I'd do it all day.
As it is now I'm helping on a few want lists. I don't look to make a killing. I look to be fair, make a few bucks for my time and keep on rolling.

Profit would be used toward "my coins". Things I've always wanted.

My view has changed a lot but also remained the same. I now find it easier to sell coins but only because my supply is better.
If I can get a coin to someone that really wants it and I'm not that interested it's really cool. Everyone wins IMHO.

I work at the shop from 9-5 then come home, hang out here, do some selling on the side and still paint and drywall.

I'd cut the paint and drywall in a heartbeat.

My level of "coin geekiness" gets worse every day. I like it and my wife is great about it.

    So what would you do?

Does it really matter? $100,000 could get me started just might take a bit more time.

After the misses got her cut ($900,000), I would buy coins with the remaining $100,000.

I'd buy a few coins that I need and some Harley Davidsons, but, a million dollars dont go as far as one may think.

by my calculations after taxes 1,000,000 would come to about $7.50.

just enough for an AG Barber Half.

Pay off the house, keep the 240k miles truck n drive it till the wheels fall off. Get some bullion, some CDs 1,3 and 5 year, bonds, downpayments on a few foreclosures to fix up and rent out, daytrade stocks. Go to ANA and learn how to grade. Metal detecting. Then I would take half of the intrest I earn and use it to buy coins and reinvest the other half to do all over again. Oh yeah, I might get a gold four knuckle ring with my name on it and a diamond for the dot on the I and Definately start a free school on numismatics for all ages.( U got to give back ya know) Drive an icecream truck and search the coins I get from that and make some rap songs about how 2 start a business and invest.

A million dollars isn't much money these days. I suppose I'd pay off some stuff and use the rest to travel a little. Not enough to quit work, but too much to blow all on coins (according to my wife anyways). Now, if I won a 60 million.......

If I had a million dollars...... - Name the group who sang this song.

My wife knows that if we hit the lottery all I'm doing is collecting coins and fishing. :D

Honestly, at my age, realistically, even if I won a million dollars, it would all be invested so that by the time I am at retirment age I will have several million dollars.... then collect coins and fish! :eek:hya:

Ok, maybe I would take a few dollars and treat myself.

that would be the bare Nakked ladies :)

nowi f i suddenly came into a million $$$$ i wouldnt spend it on coins. Upgrade the house, buy the state offered college trips for my kids (its where you pay todays rates for college, and then when they are ready to go years down the road... its free - tuition is anyway), then invest a large portion of it for future needs and retirement.

a million just isnt alot of money any more!

now if i suddenly came into a billion (or some other outrageously large amount lol).... my collecting habits would get ALOT busier!!!
