Hello everyone I hope that I have posted this in the right forum I have just recently started to collect ancient Chinese coins and I was just wondering if any of the collectors in here can give me any advice at all about collecting Chinese coins in general, such as most reputable places to purchase these, trustworthy Ebay sellers, handy info websites, the best books to read, lists of the many varieties in circulation, etc... I used to collect coins as a young teenager and recently decided to pick it up again as its a very interesting hobby, and my keen interest in ancient Chinese history influenced my decision greatly too. Thank you in advance :smile
I started early this year myself, and found some very helpful websites: Calgary Coins: www.calgarycoin.com/reference/china/china.htm#index Zeno database: www.zeno.ru/showgallery.php?cat=501 Lars Bo: chinesecoins.lyq.dk/ Visit Trafford Publishing and buy Hartill's "Cast Chinese Coins" www.trafford.com/4dcgi/dosearch lars Bo lists a number of reputable dealers as well as naming many who sell fakes. I have followed his advice and believe I have got genuine coins. Hope this helps. Good luck with your collecting.
i recommend yus on ebay he is a real nice guy and you will do well if you buy his slabbed stuff furthermore he is based in hong kong so he is right next door
Thank you very much for the advice and the links. I am already familliar with Lars Bo's site, it has proven quite helpful with my Ebay shopping, pretty good, hehehe. I already have my eyes on that Cast Chinese Coins book, i saw the big preview of it on google books... though I find it odd that they allow so much of the book to previewed but still have no option to have the book purchased in full electronically, lol Thanks again
