Nice find, I have also found that the string and son rolls hold some nice finds. I try to get one box of cents a week from both banks here, one bank has String and son rolls and the other has Brinks. The String and son boxes normaly yield the better finds. I have also noticed a sharp increase in coustomer rolled coins at both banks and often these are coins that have been sitting in someones piggy bank for a long time. There has been a sharp increase in AU coins from the 60s and later.
Good luck with the searching, Bill

A while ago I found a 1909, but it wasn't VDB or as nice as yours! Awesome find!!! Today, I went through a box of nickels (9 50s, 5 40s) and cents (6 wheats). The wheat count was low, but I also found my first proof cent! It was a 1994 S and it has some spots on it, but I was still really excited.

    Thanks!

Totally agree about String & Son also- I've found some real nice cents in their rolls- a real nice 1944S Lincoln that I posted on this forum a while ago, 7 at least MS65 grade 1973 LMC's all in the same roll!, plus 4 1998 Wide Am's and over a half dozen 2000 Wide AM's just to mention a few, in addition to the latest two I just posted here.

    Good luck to you also!!
    Chuck.

    Congrats on your PROOF Cent!

I found a 2002-S Lincoln proof a while ago but it was not in that good of shape- had lots of dings etc on it- I think someone may of had it in a Proof set or something and wasn't very pleased with how it looked so just pulled it out into general circ where it just got worse abuse.

    Good luck in your searches!!

    Chuck.

    Brinks?

I am curious how you got a Brinks box? Can you just go right to Brinks and buy one?

This is how they are delivered to the banks. When you buy $100 at a bank there is a good chance they will just give you the entire box.

    Wow Chuckster!
That is a beauty. An error coin type that still eludes me. Someday maybe I will be as lucky as you.
    Double Congrats!!

Hey Chuckster... did someone 'salt' those rolls to keep you coming back? ;o)

Great find on the 09... nice and sharp, great rims, appears to be free of the nasty stuff that ruins coins. CONGRATS AGAIN!!

Uh Oh, I can see it now... Oracle chasing down a Brinks Armored car on foot yelling and saying 'hey wait! I want to buy a box of coins'...

One time an Armored truck was parked on the marked crossing spot in our bank lot and as I walked by the guard was all uptight and being a tough young man... until I said 'For ME?'... he managed a nice little grin... as he reached for his side arm.
Gotta be careful around those monster trucks everyone...]

I will be sure to put my hands in the air when approaching the truck. :hail:

cool find wheatman21, chuckster unbelieveable, USS656 really like the board you have to display finds for us. Probably the only good thing to happen from a bad economy is rollsearches get better and better.
Got 2 rolls of dimes and 3rd coin in the first roll was a 1964 vf-xf.
Box of cents yeilded a 54d and a 56d f/vf(way lower than my average for wheats).
$70 in nickels yield about 2.5 rolls of 38-59

I live in Arizona, and am a flight attendant. When I get back east, I find a bank close to our overnight hotel and buy $5 to $10 worth of pennies. I have found some wheaties (4 solid rolls one time in Islip Long Island area) but my best has been (at various times) an 1998, 1999, and 2000 Lincoln with the wide AM variety reverse. I have found an unplated 1998 cent, and lots of Canadian, the last 2 times finding a 1932 and a 1943 Canadian cent. Great way to spend time!

Last Sunday I went through some OBW Lincolns I have had for many years. Had two rolls of 60D, and in second roll found THREE (3) DDO-1-III RPM 1 stage 3 or 4 all look like 64 Red Obverse and 65/66 Reverse. So I had a really nice day.
