First 2 pics are from Variety Vista.

    MM position looks on target.

This was very hard to get a good photo of because its in the case and its so friggin shiny. I did my best to get a couple different angles to compare while trying to reduce glare. Looks north/south as described and the inside top of the S looks like a match.

    thoughts???

That does it. Have to get a different or new camera. I hate fighting with reflection and detail. Ive adjusted the settings, tried natural light, incandescent, etc and results still not good. This is the best I can get with what I have. time to invest in something that cost more than a starbucks coffee.

I'm leaning towards die chips with these pics. The reflection on the bottom of the last photo is in the way. And it would have to be north or south, not both as you mentioned. And before someone jumps in, they can be N/E, S/E, S/W or N/W.

So you use a cheap camera all the time,
and the starbucks liquid goes down the toilet.
Those expenses seems a bit backwards to me.

I looked at your first 2 pics and I was thinking it was it .. until I read those are copies from VV.
    oops
but to me it "kinda" looks like the correct RPM but I'm no RPM expert albeit your lighting and focusing is bad and thus it's not very clear.

I couldn't even tell that it was of a Jefferson Nickel until I opened the VV page.

Half the issue is camera and the other half is its through a plastic holder which just makes it worse. With my "eye" here, I think it is but it will be impossible to get any solid confirmation with pictures I can take at the moment.

I like to post the pictures of a confirmed example when possible just to make it easier for people to compare. I know when Im reading someone elses post and they ask if a coin is a DD, its nice to see right there an example. I think it may help give more value to a thread since most people will read but sometimes not go to VV or wherever to compare. I research the best I can before putting up a thread so I might as well share what Im looking. I personally hate when people post coins and just say "is this a doubled die" without at least trying to compare and do some work towards an answer.

Old coins I have no issue with but anything in plastic and/or shiny its frustrating. Oh, and its north. Im putting all this away for now until I can get a better camera that will be easier to use and create pics that can be evaluated correctly.

I think it was a damaged mm punch and possibly some mechanical movement, and not a RPM, IMO, Jim

I love this nickel anyway. Things beautiful! Thanks for helping me get this nickel "rightly" identified.
