physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Your poll asks "Do you like shiny new coins?"

You post then posits "Tarnished?" or "Cleaned?"

These are two *very* different questions, with very different implications, and very different answers. You have to figure out which one you're asking.

Because I'm responding to the second.

Haha! The best response to a Troll is to Ignore them!

    Ignore me! I don't care!

I'm literally on the verge of ignoring you, but I haven't decided if you're a troll or just don't have a clue what you're talking about.

I'm not here to argue guys, I'm new and learning. I'd rather hear you criticize me on my related points than my grammar or approach to topics.

I think this thread took a wrong turn a few pages ago.

How about we all sleep on it and start again tomorrow?

And... maybe not clean any more coins in the meantime.

So good, just vote. We dont always get to vote our ideal answers. you can discuss why you voted for what you did if you want too and criticize the other choices. I don't know what you think. You should share why my poll may not have fair choices but I don't think I can change it now. Maybe I'll learn something from you!!!

I have a clue. I'm not here to disrupt anyone. Don't shut me down for asking opinions.

You can have multiple votes in my poll. Maybe you don't understand the poll. I'm watching the votes and we will discuss the popular ones. Currently there are two votes for "only if they are new". I would really like to elaborate on that answer.

I see I was sloppy with my poll questions. I misspelled patina. Double L on like. I apologize I'll be more careful in the future.

Screenshot_20191214-015808.jpg I looked up the definition of troll. That is everything that I stand against. I do not want to spread disInformation. Actually that is the contrary to what I want. I want common belief. I want census to see what people think. I want to discuss differences. I do not absolutely do not want to persuade anybody.

It's tomorrow.. I would like to elaborate on the poll since it was an issue.
Do you like shiney new coins?
The question was overstated with the word new.
I see the problem now. It is not a valid question and/or the choices are contradictory. the first choice was
    "Only if they're new"
The question and the first two answers are contradictory. Again I apologize. If the question was...
"Do you like shiny coins?" , "only if new" would be a valid answer. But then we would have had to assume that an individual would expect only a new coin to be shiny. Well of course that is absurd and I admit the poll is flawed. I wish I could just reset it without the word "new" and without the first choice. Then it would have been a good poll. I shouldn't have had that last glass of wine.. :muted:

I agree that the second choice was the most reasonable if question was phrased without the word new.

Tastes vary, and some if not most, actually like both shiny, and toned.
I like some toning, but not all. The dark brown - black can sometimes be detrimental to me, but not always. I usually prefer colorful toning.
I also like some blast white coins. Mostly moderns, because as stated earlier, nice natural toning can be very eye appealing as well.
Older coins like Morgan or Trade dollars that are bright most likely have been cleaned at some point, but when cleaned well/properly, they can be gorgeous also.
To sum... I like both toned, and blast white coinage, depends on the coin as to preference.
BTW, I prefer proof coins to be untoned mirrors unless the toning pops.
    Again, tastes vary.

I am pretty sure that I have created a touchy topic and could have done a better job at opinions. Coin cleaning is risky. But I have had a bit of fun and some very satisfactory results playing with the notion. It's not unheard of or should be considered taboo. People pay to have their coins cleaned professionally. I'm a hands on type of person and can't help but discect things and experiment.[/QUOTE]
I started the thread with a common proof dime and got negative feedback on the "blast white effect". I agree. I have another thread on cleaning copper which I said my self " I'm not crazy about clean silver". As for the copper I had positive feedback. So It does depend greatly on many variables. I enjoy my wheats more now that they have been given a second chance. If your at all interested...

I dont know where my posts are going???? But no I am not suggesting cleaning anything with potential value. Unless someone comes up with an accepted method or proves they can get a better grade.

That a topic should not be discussed because it has been done before.
