Disagree with small bank coin roll hunting so to speak I belong to TD bank if you belong to a bank for a while and developed a relationship with people u sit down with not the tellers , look i know when the truck comes ever Tuesday before noon TD bank told me told me , So I would call on Tuesday , again not tellers people u sit down with , so when I go in Tuesday I have pick of the crop she would bring out 25 rolls or more ,no BS she would bring out tray I look heads and tails on the rolls pick the older ones , you will find gems in those rolls, also ask the Tellers if any rolls were bought in that day from people , me local school turns in about 50 rolls or other civilians , also I know the banks hold onto halves Kennedys or Franklin's or Ikes they mean banks do not and cannot return halves or Dollar coins so ask esp if u have a relationship with one bank member just all in all NO SMALL BANKS MORAL OF THIS COMMENT IS YOU CAN GO TO WELL KNOWN BANKS U BELONG TO AND U WILL GET WHAT U WANT ALSO THIS GOES FOR ALL DEMONINATIONS OF COIN CURRENCY LARGE / BIG BANKS WILL DO THE SAME JUST ASK
my banque will not get me halves or dollar coins, i would have to order a large lot of them and pay a fee..i do get rolls of unc pennies sometimes from Loomis, which they use, and today found a silver dime going through 3 rolls..i would like to "correct" you, if you do not mind..the spot price for pure copper is 2.82 per pound, and last i did the calculations, there are roughly 138 pennies to the pound?? so that makes them more like -1-3/4 cents a piece to 2 cents, and you would have to find a way to weed out all the damn zincs, grrr...the mint does have to pay roughly 2 to 3 cents a piece to make the lil buggers that nobody in the rest of the world even wants anymore...Canada, Aussie, etc.....anyways..that is just me 2 cents worth, lol
wow , you know, back when copper was 4.80 a pound, (ah the good ol days).. i had a plan to do this on a much smaller basis, getting like 5000.00 worth at a time, figuring a way to sort the 82 and newer out, and sell the rest for copper..you are almost doubling your money at that point, if copper hits that again, it would cost you 1.28 for a pound, minus labor and sell for 4-80??, but at today's prices, 3.82 a pound, really not worth it unless you have a large labor force and millions to invest..
I went to a local bank and asked if they had any silver dollars (Eisenhower). The said yes, a man just brought in 100 coins. Since I do business there and there are starting to get to know me, I told the teller I would be down in one hour and buy them. One of the coins was Silver and I think it is a proof. A nice find.
I ordered a box ($1,000) of small dollars. They should be in this week. If you want coins you have to buy them by the box.
Just finished $5.00 worth of Pennies, For my trouble i only found 2 Canadian pennies and 3 Wheat cents. I only look for wheats maybe a stray IHC, picking is getting real hard to do. You have to keep looking or you won't find anything.....
