I am really new to coin collection. Can you please let me know if this is an authentic PCGS holder? Thank you so much for helping me out here. James
I was checking out website about some counterfeit slabs how the corners can be different than authentic ones, but this one I got the corners are slightly damaged so I was not sure. Thanks for your input, really appreciated.
This hobby has enough misery from counterfeit coins and people trying to make fake slabs. This strikes me as someone seeing how good his fake is. It’s happened before around here. Please prove me wrong. Show us the corners and the slab.
I read what was there and came up with this. It does say 1 oz. fine silver though. So probably a proof or bullion
Because dealers and collectors toss these slabs around and don't treat them with care, and the little ridges break. It is extremely common.
OP, is that bullion toned that color? It could be the light but I'd like to know. Can we see the reverse?
I've seen people testing out their AT methods by asking the forums for their opinions. People are always concerned about counterfeit threads for the same reason, but I've not seen proof of that. Either way, my opinion is that widespread sharing of knowledge is the best defense. In any counterfeit thread, or AT thread, I will openly and willingly share any knowledge I may have to educate members on how to spot the fakes.
