I've been searching halves on a regular basis for a little over 2 years and found my first Barber on the 26th. I also found a 1906 Barber dime in VF condition in Feb 07 in a roll. It would be nice to find a Barber quarter to complete the set, but I'm not expecting it.

    So far I have done 4 boxes of nickels and in the first and third, I didn't find any, but 2nd and 4th I found 5 combined. 42, 43, 43, 45, 45 - all P's.

Looks like my begginners luck ran out. I just finished searching $490.00 in halves from about 5 different misc. banks and didnt find a thing. Going to take a drive to a smaller town tomorrow and see if I can change my luck. Is it common to search almost $500 of halves and find nothing?

When I was a kid I spent more time at the banks searching through rolls of every coin immaginable. The bank called my mother and told her that I was only allowed in the bank 3 times a week from now on. Eventually I lost interest. But till today I have all those coins I found way back then. edited

Anybody have any idea what the banks are paying for these neatly rolled not to mention timely delivered coins? I mean, it does cost something to roll these little buggers. And I'm pretty sure these armored cars (when fully-loaded, for sure) aren't getting the same gas mileage my shiny new Mustang is. What are they paying for a box of pennies, for example? Just curious...

Finally some reward for my toils. =) I stopped by the bank earlier today to cash in my $250 worth of searched halves, and inquired if they had any rolls in the branch. The teller replied that they had just one roll, so I told her I'd take it and the rest in cash. Well, $6 worth of the roll was 40%. Not a bad find. Inspired by this bit of silver, I stopped at a bank in the next town and used my $240 in cash to purchase more halves. I just finished searching them with no luck. I think someone beat me to them, although there were no markings of any sort. Ah well, still didnt do too bad. =)

The 82 and 83s aren't really worth any more than any other modern nickels in ms 65 according to my price guide. And nice finds!

I just found this real nice 1909 VDB last night! - it was in a cent roll labeled "NF String & Son Inc, Harrisburg PA- USA."

I'm still stunned that this was found in circulation.
Amazing as to what you can still find in these local bank rolls :smile

I kid you not! Absolutely no reason to fabricate anything!

I'm posting these as I find them in rolls. - sharing it with the coin community- the coins are still out there!

I really did find this 1909 VDB 2 nights ago in a circulated bank roll of cents!- It was labeled "NF String & Son Inc, Harrisburg PA USA" for anyone who wants a reference.

This is also the same company that I found my 1972 DDO-08 that I also posted ABOUT.

Keep looking- there are some nice coins to be discovered/ RE discovered in circulated rolls also!- not only BU'S! :)
