why would you post a coin in such a distracting background? I'll go with rot

Looks like additional material deposited on the coin. Have you tried acetone and a toothpick to see if it lifts off or changes?

No I haven't. I will try that.. what if it doesnt change anything? Would it just be deterioration?

I'm sorry, I forgot that there were people on here that were distracted so easily. I used the background because it is the table where I look at my coins. It's easy and quick access. Thanks for the question though.

I've never seen rot with so dramatic bubbling. But I'm also new too. Thanks for the responses

Zinc rot happens fairly quick. Layer the rot turns to crud. You may have both all ready.

Ok, that actually makes sense. Your probably right. So the bubbles are just zinc rot in another stage?

It's not that some are easily distracted and didn't mean to sound like a prick it's just that some people have a hard time because of poor eyesight or what ever to focus on a specific area when there is alot of other stuff going on in the background. You wouldn't want your doctor to look at your x-ray with a poca dot background would you :D

The bubbles are usually a plating issue on Zinc Cents such as yours. As soon as they pop open, and they will, the rot starts. Zinc is a terrible medal to use for coins.

Ok. Sorry didn't know it was much of a distraction to some people but it's the best place to take pictures because of the light and It still takes a while for me to get a good picture.

Ok cool. Thanks for the info. Don't know that. That's why I post on this site is for information from other collectors that know their stuff.. but every once in a while I'll get a comment from someone who is an "expert" who just criticizes others for not knowing.

You'd run into that anywhere if you looked for it so just pretend your a duck and all that rain just runs off your back. You'll be better for doing so.

Also, sometimes it may come across that way but the member is just trying to give you a better idea.
