Can anyone tell me what this is called, how it happens, and a rough value??? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

rzage What Goes Around Comes Around .

Maybe 2 planchets stuck together , if that can happen . Your guess is as good as mine . But the coin is cool , don't collect errors but I would like that one . How thick is it ?

Will probably get the terminology wrong, but sure looks like a capped die error to me.

Average thickness and the obverse rim is there and looks normal. The weight is right too.

Imeant that maybe there was another coin or something over this one when it was struck , not that they were still stuck together . The reason I asked its thickness was I thought maybe it was a thin planchet or something .

Sometimes when coins are being struck a planchet will get stuck to the hammer die. And every coin after that is struck while this other planchet is stuck on the die - the die is capped in other words. The actual die cap can almost turn into a cup shape while the coins struck with it have a dished effect and very poor details.

It's a capped die strike. The coin was struck through a late-stage die cap.
