This nickel is strange to me for sure. The thing that makes it unusual is the raised lines inside the door of Monticello also in the field, But the strangest part is were the anomaly runs through the steps it becomes incussed and then raised just south of the steps. I'd love your thoughts on this coin!

Interesting for sure. I've seen coins struck from dies with cleaning scratches on it...resulting in raised marks. However, the incused mark could be a strike-through or PMD. It's certainly interesting how it lines up with the raised mark. Coincidence?

Looks like maybe an offset or floating die clash in the door and under the steps. On the steps it took a hit. The alignment is coincidental. The interesting part is the 'clash'. This could be a new clash.

Clash doesn't seem to line up. 2010-D_5c_nickel_OVERLAY_AAB (2).jpg

I'm not familiar with floating or off set die clash.

    Check this out. http://www.maddieclashes.com/
The 'offset' should have been 'misaligned'. If it is a clash, it's not a typical one.
