I like how he makes it clear that the purchase money will be long gone before you actually recieve the coin to examine it Richard
I wrote to the guy that is selling this( First time ever). Question: Where is the mintmark. How do you know it is silver? Need better picture. Well, person reply is under the date(F). Cheryl
Don't you guys understand how to launder money. It would defeat the purpose if a real person with real money actually bid on the coin. Of course if someone paid me $31,000 for that nickel, I'm sure I could find the time to list another auction to launder my original $31,000.
Kind of takes something away when the second word in his description is a typo. Has anybody played dumb yet and asked him what mint the 'E' stands for? Or why the red book says these are 75% copper, and 25% nickel so why does he say it's silver? So many angles you could go with this idiot. Most people that have money didn't get that way by blowing it on stupid ebay auctions. What a fool.
The person told me the mintmark was under the date. I did Email him back and explained that the minkmark would be on the reverse side of the coin below the five cents. the F under the date stood for James Earle Fraser. I also asked him how he knows it is Silver. I am waiting for a reply. Cheryl
Mark Feld as a new collector I did send him some infor on the coin and a website to help him for the future. http://coinfacts.com. Cheryl
And/or to try to feel superior to others, who don't know nearly as much as those who are making fun. Many collectors who belittle others for their cluelessness have apparently forgotten that they might have been just as clueless at one time. And that someone might have taught/helped them get to where they are today, knowledge-wise.
Mark I agree with what you are saying but I do think that a young (old) inexperianced collector would get the jist of what was going on here. Perhaps we shouldn't be poking fun but this guy is sooooo obvious IMHO....even to the unenlightened.
If it's a joke....then ha ha. If not, I feel sorry for the instructors at the college this joker was accepted at
hobo: It is obvious that the seller DIDN'T have any reference to look in, otherwise he would not have made the statements about the coin's condition or mint of origin. I must agree on the troll opinion. He has been a member since Mar, and no auctions of record. He also says "no returns, no refunds and the money (probably like his eBay account) is GONE after the auction ends. Sounds like a troll account to me.
I just reread the auction folks. He says he's a coin collector and ONLY selling this for college money. So, IF he's a coin collector then it would seem reasonable that he could do a bit of research on this coin. You know, mint letters and stuff. Think about this. Kid is going to college and raised in a "computer" generation. Unlike us old and older dogs most of these kids are whizzes at finding information because they grew up with computers. Cell phone picture? None of his friends have a real camera or a scanner? Sorry, this one gets two thumbs down and a bye bye.
Exactly. This guy is a scammer...and he's hoping there's SOMEONE out there dumber than he is that will fall for this. Highly unlikely, of course, but you never know...
Sorry I don't paid for things on e-bay, but use it to check out prices for differents things. I got a reply for the Buffalo Nickel. I know I am still learning on the coins but this made me??????. Here is the reply: im not a serious coin collector. i have old coins but i dont go and look for old coins to buy and stuff like that My reply to him is: This is what your answer on the coin in question. I feel that as any kind of coin collector you would have done you home work on this first. I only have been collecting for a year now. I know more than you do. You are trying to make money off a coin that is not worth that much and is not silver in the first place. You really need to pull that coin and get a job. You and others like you put E-bay to shame.
