Like the title says, why? For Mercury dimes there's the FSB, for Jeff nickels it's FS, Franklin's FBL's, and so on, and so on. So, why, lol? Phoenix
Personally, Phoenix, I think there should be "full steps" for Lincolns - just like the Jeffersons. Look at some of your Lincolns from the late 80s early 90s, the steps are a blur, especially the middle steps. The steps are not clearly defined. Some of the more recent Lincolns that I have looked at have very nice, clearly defined steps - full steps as I call them. When I look for modern Lincolns, this is one of the things that I look for. Let me know what you think.
LOL, I've actually thought of that too. Why there isn't that designation for them also. And on the wheats, why not FHL? (Full wheat Lines, or FS for Full Strike) But yeah, it seems like one of those conspiracies you think about, LOL. Phoenix
Hahhaha that is so terrible. I feel bad because it took me a minute to catch on but when I did i couldn't stop cracking up
Did you know Lincoln was responsible for the first income tax of 3%. The founding fathers considered a tax on a man's work to be immoral. Since we are talking about Lincoln just thought that might spark some interest. Ironic his picture ended up on money.... Strange place to end up immortalized with those kind of credentials....
I am in favor of what Q. David Bowers has advocated...That being just having "Full Details" for any coin in any category. I think that should about cover it all.
I'm no attorney, but my understanding is they outlawed it in the Constitution. Which explains why the Supreme Court struck down the original income tax as unconstitutional. And that's why the 16th amendment was created - it was necessary in order to have an income tax. They had to subvert the will of the Founding Fathers. :headbang: I searched the Constitution, but didn't see clear language outlawing an income tax. Maybe it's the clause in Section 9 : "No Capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken." Maybe those who know much more than I will chip in...
Makes sense. Personally, I think any coin graded MS65 or better should have full details. MS65 is supposed to mean "gem".
I think you are correct sir.... And to think a penny is all it is worth. Funny how the peices of history that effect us the most are not talked about often.
Haven't been able to get NBH out of my head for a day. Can't think of a single way to tell any of my non-coin collecting family the joke and have them get it.
No taxation without representation, thats why congress must vote on taxes, they cannot simply be attached. In my opinion, MS-65 must be fullly struck in any series. I have seen many that are not.
