I couldn't resist sharing this precious find with everyone. This guy has b***s. http://cgi.ebay.com/1914-Buffalo-Ni...yZ139807QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem If the link doesn't work, it's auction #250265318173
Yeah, those silver 1914-E Buffalo Nickels are kind of rare. I'd love to see that mintmar. Too bad the photo is so blurry. "The mint letter is an E, and you can't see it on the picture because I took it from my cell phone."
If I get flamed for this, so be it, but.... Sometimes sellers with listings like that are clueless/misinformed/uninformed and not simply trying to rip someone off. Why is it that so many posters spend the time making fun of listings like that, as opposed to contacting the sellers and trying to inform/teach them? The latter often takes less time and believe it or not, can be a lot more rewarding. Edited to add - this is what I sent to the seller before posting to this thread: "Dear seller, It's impossible to know what you have there with a blurry image like that, but I can assure you, you won't get any decent bids unless or until potential bidders can see what you're offering for sale. Also, it is unlikely that you have anything other than a 1914 (no mintmark), 1914-D or 1914-S nickel, as those were the only mint-marks that were used by the Mint for Buffalo nickels. You might be seeing evidence of a clashed die, where part of the design detail from one side shows through on the other, but even that does not make it valuable."
Mark; The guy wants $31,000. I think for that money he could post a better picture. Clueless/misinformed/uninformed? I think he's trolling.
No it seems perfectly legitimate. I've been trying to come by one of those 1914-E's for a while, I might just pick this one up. $30k is a steal
The 1914/3 is only $6,000 in MS-63 in the Red Book. I wonder where this guy looked to determine a value for his coin.
Why should you get flamed for it Mark? An opinion is an opinion after all. My opinion on this particular item is that the guy IS probably clueless, has taken no time to buy a clue and wants 31K for his lack of effort. Methinks he deserves a bit of ridicule for that personally. I have sent messages to sellers like this on several occasions. Chose not to on this one. Get tired of the "mind your own business" (sometimes with exlpetives) or being totally ignored. Not real worried though as I doubt anyone will bid.
