I just wanted to show you this because it is hilarious. I won it on Ebay last week from this really weird seller. The lot was only 10 bucks and it came along with three other destroyed denarius'. The coins just came in the mail today. And for some reason, I had to have this piece of crap. The picture isn't that great, I'm getting a new setup, so bear with me.

I wouldn't say it's ugly, but this is definitely my most visually challenged coin.

Well I really do like it. And if I am correct, it is a very, very interesting type - that reverse is, I think, Mercury, and was issued to commemorate the famous "Rain Miracle" as shown on the column of Marcus Aurelius.

There are several varieties - here is the OCRE search:

    http://numismatics.org/ocre/results...enarius"+AND+portrait_facet:"Marcus+Aurelius"

Here is Dio on the miracle, via livius.org:

"The Rain Miracle: the miraculous escape of the Twelfth Legion Fulminata during the Marcomannic Wars."

Admittedly, whole coins are easier to ID.
