What do you guys think? I see doubling on the ear, the date, mint Mark, United States , One Cent and memorial pillars
You can compare it here to find out . http://www.varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/DDO 1974-D.htm http://doubleddie.com/823923.htm
Both of the DDOs at Variety Vista are small date varieties (see here: http://www.lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1974.html). Your coin is a large date variety. Coppercoins lists one large date DDO (see here: http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1974&die_id=1974d1do004&die_state=mds). There are no attributed DDRs for the date/mm though.
I recently studied the 1974 Lincoln cents. Besides the large and small dates, the hair style on Lincoln's head presents another variation. In my Lincoln album, I show 8 types of 1974 cents. Including the blob S mintmark, the tall S mintmark, and the "wildhair" sample. None are rare. But the combination of the "wildhair" with the large date '74 D is hardest to find. If anyone is interested, I can provide images and data. Easiest way to note the large date is the distance from the edge of coin, and the "triangle" within the 4 numeral is an isosceles triangle. I am interested. I suggest you begin a new thread and post the varieties, perhaps by rolling them out collectively and then introduce each separately for discussion.
