Little did I realize last week that when I bought The Cherrypickers Guide to rare die varieties, 4th ed. by Fivaz and Stanton that it was Vol. 2. I didn't find this out until several days later when I started reading it and realized that it had from half dimes to dollars, plus us gold and comms. Not a problem, because I was buying if for the comm stuff, but when I went back to get Vol. 1, they didn't have it. No problem, I went on line. No one had it! It looks like there is no Vol. 1. You have the original Cherrypickers Guide which had its last edition published in 2001, but that was it.

Does anyone know if they are re-releasing the Guide with a Vol.1? I would suspect they would, but just couldn't find any info on it. Thanks. Joe

I believe I heard that a new edition for Vol. I will be published in the fall, but don't count on it. Perhaps you can find a used version for now?

I've noticed that many coin books are either unavailable or outrageously expensive. Cases in point : Cohen 1/2c, California Fractional Gold, Breen Large 1c 1793-1814, Bolender S$1 1794-1803.

Try Amazon.com, I believe I got mine there or on eBay. But check out eBay and state Cherrypickers VOL 1. I may have gotten mine fron "autumnpuddy" onebay.

    I love these 2 books.

FOUND IT! Yeah, for a buy it now price of $89.00!!!! I had already looked at Amazon and it wasn't avaiable. I took your advice, Bruce and went on ebay. I found one copy. It was exactly what I was looking for -4th ed, Vol1. This was the companion book I was looking for, but not for $89. Oh well, at least I know that it is out there. I just need to keep on looking. I am going to try and call the publisher today. I will keep you all posted. Joe

www.alibris.com is a good source of used coin books for $3 and up. i found John Highfill's silver dollar encyclopedia thru them and it turned out to be autographed.

hi Joe!...they are an outlet for many sellers around the country. i have found some very hard to find books there w/ huge price ranges. some are first edition autographed, some can be used library books, hence the price differential. it just depends on what you are looking for and you can always wait if you are looking for a special book, as the selection varies constantly. i have gotten some good buys from them and then seen some hugely overpriced. depends on the seller.
glad you found it at a decent price somewhere tho!
    best wishes....steve
