This is my favorite date,I love the way they look when struck well.
Honestly, these look like crap, tons of die polish marks and nasty residue,I expected more from Denver.

I've got five tubes of '73-D that I acquired in a bulk purchase about 15 years ago that I've never searched. Is there anything special that I should look for if I decide to waste my time and give myself a headache:inpain: looking through them?:meh:

Honestly,no,not much at all to be desired in this date. I look thru them for errors, the two biggest cuds I've ever found came from this year. The denver stuff carries a hefty premium

Well...Coppercoins suggests that an MS60 variety is valued at $7-11. MS63 range between $9-15. MS65 between $12-20. I estimate that only 70% of the suggested range can be realized based on an informal review of a few variety coins I've researched on eBay (not for this date/mm), so being bored may have a payout if you find the right buyer.

USA Coin Book is showing 73-D in MS 65 at .30 cents.
Sometimes I wonder where people get these inflated numbers.
With a mintage of 3 1/2 billion, why would it be worth $10-$20 in MS?

The Variety Factor. Regular MS cent $.30. Add the factor: $15. I’ve never sold any of my Variety coins so I can’t say that the Coppercoins suggested value or Cherrypicker’s suggested values are realistic. My limited study on coins I purchased correlate reasonably on the more major varieties but not so much on lesser varieties.

    What's the variety? A cud?
I can see the value for that in MS.
Any way to figure out how many were produced?

Are those values for slabbed or raw coins?

Chris was wondering if it be worth his while to search his 5 rolls of UNC 1973Ds. If he finds one of the 14 or so Varieties for the date he may have some level of pay dirt. TN may have an RPM in the mix but hard to tell from his photos. 1 known DDO for the date which is also minor. It’s the MS Factor that could inflate the regular $.30 MS cent.

Raw as far as I know Chris. The coins I’ve purchased have been in flips and cherrypicked so the seller either didn’t know or care. So I paid the grade rate so to speak. I check all my unc roll purchases for varieties. Usually I already know I’ll pull a few gem coins for placing in flips or airtites. Usually there are a mix of 3 or so die sets per roll so it’s possible to find 3 different types of varieties. I’m attributing a couple rolls of unc 1961Ds at this time. I think I have 3 attributed varieties and 1 or 2 unattributed RPMs. Got both rolls for $3-4 dollars so I’ll be ‘ahead’ after attributing one coin. Fair spend by my account.
