I sent in coin to PCGS, received a Genuine UNC Details (98-Damage) grade. I dont have a full image of the coin, but took a few before sending it off. Any thoughts?
If you think there is doubling, you have to tell them. And that is a different thing (attribution) then just a grade. Since it is a details grade it is worth silver value. As for damage there seem to be a couple of areas that look bad. Full photos of the entire coin are best.
I submitted as QDO, Major Variety. There is also TDO major variety. Damage is explained as "metal movement" which is due to mint error. (This came out of an uncirculated package.) I wonder should I have submitted under error grading? Guess I'm a little confused.
What kind of uncirculated package? To many hits for any uncirculated package I've ever seen. You should have posted it here first, for opinions before submitting it.
Those are aftermarket put together sets. Could have anything in them including AU's. The images do show the multiple hubbings. Not sure what damage they are taking about. The reed marks from contact with other coins shouldn't result in a details grade.
That's not an uncirculated set. It looks like a secondary market product someone put together. Where did you get them? The Triple Doubling looks legit though.
Local pawn shop. He bought an estate from a collector. This is straight from pcgs website this is why I'm confused. This coin is not damaged.
Did you get the coin back yet? We need pictures of the entire coin in the slab, both sides. EDIT: Never mind. I overlooked one of your posts.
What I see is a coin with NAV doubling, damage and it was put together after it left the US Mint. It is not a US Mint Uncirculated coin and it's not a US Mint Uncirculated Set.
These mint sets are not guaranteed to contain MS coins. I think even if your 1964-D Kennedy half graded MS it wouldn't recover the grading cost anyway. It's a very common coin even in high grades. To me, most coins are not worth grading. Unless they are very valuable, very rare, or need to be authenticated as genuine. (Gold, varieties, etc.)
Well considering I paid face value for the set, i think the "late night infomercial" was a value. Lol. And everyone keeps saying "doubling" but it's more like tripling and quadrupling. (Major die varieties). Oh and I said it came out of uncirculated Package, NOT a "set"...lol... View attachment 1031990 View attachment 1031990
