Afternoon people: The wife plans to attend a crafters event up in Saratoga Springs in early July. This will be the third year in a row that she, along with me in tow, will be attending this event. I can spend about 10 minutes at one of these shows before my eyes start to glaze over and I begin to lose control of my motor functions. Help!!! Anybody know of some good coin shops in the area? Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated and kept in the strictest confidence.
From the albany area here, Ferris stamp and coin company in albany, Olde Saratoga Coin shop in Colonie. Right in Saratoga there's a place called Mark Lawson Antiques. Harry
If you can't find any , I find a stiff jolt of Jack Daniels lessons the pain of excursions with my wife . rzage
Thanks Harry. Have read your posts and know that you are from the area...was hoping you'd reply. Thanks for the info. Ken
Rzage...thanks for the advice. I'll have to try that. Right now the doctor has me on a strict regimen of Johnny Walker. Maybe I should up my dosage.
Where is the Ferris place in Albany and the Olde Saratoga one in Colonie located? I drive to the Albany area every day for work from Berkshire County and was looking for a place to check out. smaugy....
Ferris stamp and coin is on lower central ave (route 5) in Albany, you can get there from I-787 or I-90. Olde Saratoga coin is also on route 5 central ave, just past wolf road and Colonie center heading toward Schenectady. You can get there from the northway, I-87. Google the coin shop names and use mapquest for directions.
Saratoga is a great place, with the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Harness Track and Flat Track and Saratoga Racino if you like to gamble. Lots of meaning and history in Saratoga, one of the turning points in the American Revolutionary War. Enjoy!
Yes the Saratoga Battlefield. There is a small guest center with displays. One case has real bullets and other artifacts to see. You can tour the battlefield and see where Benedict Arnold got hit in the leg. Also we stopped at several Champlain canal locks and Fort Ticonderoga. Took the car ferry to Vermont. What wasn't so nice around there was the Crown Point smell.
Tip: Go to Google Maps and click find businesses. Type in coin shops and the city and state in the applicable places. Find the coin shops. Then get directions to them from Google Maps if necessary.
Moument of the Boot....how sad. He was such a good general but had too much of an ego. Never felt that he got credit for his achievements. His monument is nameless and his name forever scorned in the annals of US history.
Yes, he had many achievements. It's rare to be so capable and not have ego. I suppose he was looked down upon because he switched sides to the British and plotted to hand West Point over to them.
