Why is the pyramid visible in red from front? I would think a dye pack would cover everything

Don't know, but I like the intrigue of the "dye pack" possibility. Let's go with that. And let's take it a step further & suggest it's from the D.B Cooper haul. :D:D:D

Another reason I know what this is....my father was an Federal Reserve agent.....who issued, and destroyed money for the Fed to serve banks.
Including money tainted by dye packs.......

The design of the pyramid is from the note that was stacked on top of your note and the dye did not soak in due to that.

Looks like a dye pack bill to me. Glad you're going to keep it and welcome to CT.

I think it's probably from the pyramid on *this* note, not on a different note. See how the dye is darker on the back than the front: that indicates that the dye hit the back of this note, and soaked through to the front in the bare-paper areas, but wasn't able to soak through the layer of green ink in the printed areas.

Just look strange to me. I will take another look at it and see if the red pyramid is in line with the printed one. I would think that the dye would have soaked thru the bill, not leave patterns. But i am by no means an expert

Yes, I do see what you mean. The front has a negative image of the reverse were ink could not soak through.

I vote that the bill went through the wash in the pocket of a new red item of clothing as dye packs are usually only used in $20.00 packs or higher value, not $1 packs.

I looked at the red triangle, it don't match the pyramid, the red triangle is smaller than pyramid

Also if you look at the last pic, above the pyramid, near edge of bill there are green specks that matches green on rest of bill, it appears these specks are over the red
