Should I buy? 1971-D Proof Ike dollar...

I stopped by a local pawn shop today to sell some extra stuff and took a look at their coins and currency while I was there. Most of it was junk, but I did notice three proof Ike dollars in what appeared to be their mint issued collector cases. Two were priced around 50 dollars but i cant remember dates or mint marks. The one that caught my eye was a 1971-D Ike for $27.50. Wasnt sure if this was a good buy, as I noticed some of the other stuff there was extremely over priced. What do you think?

Not a great deal

I bought one on line about two weeks ago and paid about 4.00. Try Coast to Coast coins on line.

 

There is only 1 Ike worth over 20 bucks in an OGP. 1973S Brown Silver Proof. At least that I am aware of. Maybe some variety?

That seems overpriced. You can get a slabbed 69DCAM for that price.

 

There are no 1971-D proof Ikes; all D-mint were business strikes.

Only 1971-S were issued in proof.

 

Agreed , pllus you could get one alot cheaper elsewhere .

Too much for my interest.

 

I can buy 71s and 72s all day in the OGP brown packs for 9 bucks each.

 

I just purchased one on eBay, I forget the price but it was much less than that price. Only the 1973 Silver Proofs are rather expensive.

 

The 1972 Type 2 coins are a variety that fetch well over that. Its the key coin of a complete Ike set.
