Playing around with a project design and would like some feedback. Which would you prefer? Design 1 with more coin data or design 2 with less? Also any other suggestions welcome. Color of wood, font, style of background, square, oval etc. If you would like me to do something using your coins send me a PM. This is for fun only. Design 1 Design 2 Any input welcome. Thanks, Mike
To be honest I do like both....since I do own a couple of these.....but....If I had to pick one....less is more, so just the date, no mintages.
I strongly prefer the first (more information), but I'm out of step with contemporary design preferences. Apparently it's not a good presentation if it doesn't leave you guessing, erm, "wanting more".
First off you have beautiful coins. I think the wood grain is distracting myself. I'd probably use a solid color but you'd have to try them and see what looks good. Just my opinion. As for the text, it just depends what you like.
Use a darker wood color. I did not like the white glowing effect to distracting. I liked to see the mintages of each coin. Nice collection.
The wood grain is on the bottom layer with a faded color on top. I can change it to any color under the rainbow. Being color blind, it's hard for me to see the color contrast properly. Solid black looked good but boring to me. What color would you suggest? It would have to be one that would contrast well with the Copper coins. It would only take me a minute to change and re-post.
If I do it with a darker color, I would have to change the font color. Not a "glow" on the lettering, I used an embossed gradient. I was trying for a stamped or carved look. That also can be easily changed.
I think you missed my point. Many woods are known for out-gassing which can negatively affect coins. Aren't you concerned about this? Chris
I was thinking black too. I don't know what else if you don't like that. I think I just don't like a pattern which is what the wood grain is.
I think you completely missed the point of this thread.... he's asking about a photo template. The woodgrain is just a photograph background. This isn't a real thing, and I don't think its a proposed design of a real thing. It's all a photograph.
I get what you're going for, but I think the "embossed" style on the lettering is distracting. It makes it a bit hard to read, especially on the first design with more information. You need larger text to make the embossed design look good, I think. Are there other "embossed" options with less contrast or shadows?
According to his post, above, it is real wood! Naturally, it has to be a photo to show it to us. Chris
Lots of options. Why I wanted feedback. If I decide to go to solid, I wouldn't use that design on the font. Just playing around trying to find the best look. Thanks Back to the drawing board.
Chris, it is not real wood. Just a background. Sorry for confusion. I do have an idea to design the real thing but the coins would be in Air-Tites, not exposed. Even that may not work.
Consider using a CAPS album page, with an insert of your own creation, like this wood grain you prefer. CAPS album pages are for airtites, and you can place an insert in them. See their website to see if that would be something you'd consider. Here's a video of a CAPS album:
Maybe a darker wood like black walnut or ebony. I think it would contrast with the copper coins better. Then maybe a gold or copper color for the text. Neat idea. I like the idea of air-tites in a wood display (I'm a woodworker myself).
Yeah, "Air-Tites" aren't actually, well, air-tight. I'm sure they'd protect the coin more than placing it directly against wood, but I'm not certain they'd protect the coin enough. If I were really motivated to do something like this, I'd be looking for some sort of coating I could apply to the wood that would be gas-tight (and wouldn't itself outgas anything that could harm coins).
