I stopped by the local coin dealers last week to pick up some supplies. The dealer had rolls of wheat cents for 2 dollars, so I bought 10 rolls. I found this Lincoln cent that looks like the one illustrated in the Cherrypichers Guide. What do you folks think? Lou
Jack, Don't feel bad! (You already know this story but I am posting it for the C.T. Members and Viewers to get a chuckle!) While going through a bag of mixed coins that I purchased from the elderly Gentleman (The best coin deal I have ever made thread!), I separated out all of the Buffalo Nickels. There was about 50 or so Buffalo Nickels in the bag and when I looked at about the tenth one, I noticed that it was a 1937 so I flipped it over and sure enough it was a "D" Mintmark. With anticipation I moved the Loupe up to the Buffalo and sure enough, there it was, only three legs at which point I nearly crapped in my drawers. The coin looked pretty good so I set it aside for further review. Well, on about the 25th or so Nickel I found another one that you could definitely tell that it was altered. I finished checking all of the Nickels from the bag, I again check the first 1937-D "Three Legged" Buffalo Nickel and after closer inspection I found that it too was an altered coin. Anyways, all was not lost! I did find a 1915-P Barber Half Dollar in about VG-10 condition and worth around $100. So don't give up and maybe Lady Luck will be on your side! Frank
Frank: Put those '3 leggers' on ebay, just say: "Ah don't know nothin' about these here coins. Ah just knows how ta spend 'em, but some old timer left me these here as part of his homestead. They were found in a mayo jar unnner de porch, next ta the tire swing. I don't unnerstand but I think that I got gypped, this here buffalo only got 3 legs. so, A'm agonna start this here auctioning stuff at only 99 cents, and hope that Ah gets enough for some gas for Old Betsy sos we kin go inta town for some chawin terbaccie. [Note: no checks, mah banks don acept 'em.]"
Frank, Sounds like a good ideear! NOT! I may list them on eBay but "the truth...the whole truth and nothing but the truth" will be stated in the Auction Listing! I have never sold anything as something they are not. Any yes, I know that you were just kidding around! The other, other Frank
