Lots of people have an interest in these and I was quite excited when I spotted one. Looked to be in good shape and with decent coins (including some silver).

Took a much closer look and not all pages were pictured. So, I emailed the seller and sadly, and after a bit of back and forth, it was confirmed only the two pages shown are included. It's a bummer and I fear someone will be very disappointed in not getting all five pages. The seller seemed unconcerned about it as they seemed to think the pictures told the whole story.

In any case, buyer be aware if you are looking for one of these. Yes, the years are posted, but that looks like for the included coins...not just the pages. Too nitpicky or a detail that should be more abundantly clear?

It's actually the sellers loss. A complete album goes well over 4 figure - perhaps almost closer to the $2000 mark depending on the condition of the coins inside.

Even so, a used album with some cheap coins often go well beyond $100.

キャシーさん:ありがとうございます。 あなたの情報は正確でした. i was also following the Dansco Album on E-Bay. Fortunately a very good friend has one which he showed me. I gave it a pass after looking at his and comparing.

    Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

An empty one of these (with all the pages and slides) can easily go for $250 or more. With coins is harder as it's usually too difficult to assess. Mine has very nice coins in it for and 'should' do better than $2000. I started with the basic circulated types, but now it has some very decent coins (and then I started a slabbed version...).

I'll out my alter ego, (it's not really a secret as you can tell my my identical avatar on the message boards), but this is my 'real' Japan Type set. I do need to do a bit of editing of the verbiage, but I don't want to risk my grandfathered coding that lets me have a picture. Once NGC decides to make the custom sets like the regular registry I can fix it up more. Plus I have a couple of gin marked yens to add.

I'm aware that if one is to fill in an album with nicer xf+ coins, prices go up drastically. The most difficult coin would be the trade dollar coin, which is easily a 4 figure coin if one is hunting down for a reasonable condition (without damage). I did mine with a student budget when most of these coins were significantly cheaper.

That said, I looked at the Dansco design and didn't agree with the layout. Prime example is the rising sun. I'm sure you would seen my old design released back in 2015 - it's due for an update with more commemorative coins released recently for the Emperor accession and Tokyo Olympics.

Your digital one is fabulous. At some point I'd like to revive my vanity website and finish it up but in the mean time I use NGC. I prefer a slightly different arrangement as well, and would try and follow the JNDA. But I don't think I can make that cool album format work.

I don't have a slabbed trade dollar yet (and may never). I had filled the hole with a super chopped up yet, but finally found a raw one.

I'd love an updated physical album to include, well how about the last two Emperors. It's something to think about for my online type set when/if NGC changes to the new format on the custom sets. I could add the new eras and the circulating coins at least. My dream album would also have gold even though there are a few that I will NEVER get (hello dragon type 20 yen, anyone have $40K or so to buy me that one for my birthday :D).

Technically the Olympic coins and 1970 World Expo 100 don't belong but that was long before Japan went off the rails a bit with the commemoratives which is why I guess they made the Dansco. Nothing like Canada, but a bit.

And don't get me wrong, I have the 47 prefectures, the earthquake coins and a few more...just not in my 'type set'.

The Olympics 100 yen as well as the 1000 yen coins did circulate to my knowledge - according to my friends, relatives who lived during that era. Obviously those got hoarded quickly.

There are plenty of options with the album - I can design so that the commemorative coins come as optional pages.
