Ran to the grocery story this morning because my brother-in-law and his wife and kids were coming in. I had a ton of things on my mind and left my wallet on the cart. I have never done this. In fact, I hardly carry my wallet, let alone with money in it. Took out some money and went to the coin shop on Saturday and slipped the extra in my wallet. Some nice lady found my wallet, looked up my number and called me at home. I tried to offer a reward, but she refused. How awesome is that. No worries though, I got her name and address before I left and I will be sending her something very nice. Thank God for Good/Honest People! :eek:hya:

Wow, You are lucky. Probably one in five people would return it or less.

    Very nice!

My wife lost her purse with EVERYTHING in it on a bus bench in Bellflower years and years back. Someone picked it up and eventually gave her a call going through her little phone book that was inside. He refused to return the purse unless we gave him a reward.

At any rate, she got her purse back, with everything in it.

It's nice to know that there are still people out there that would "do the right" thing without expectation or demands.

I think that depends on where you are. There are honest and dishonest people everywhere, but they vary in quantity depending on your location. For instance if you are in California or New York, you can pretty much kiss your wallet goodbye, but say Kansas or Minnesota I think it would be returned more often than not.

As for the guy that found the purse and wanted a reward, he would have gotten it if he had done that to my wife... How about a call to the police! He could potentially be up on purse snatching charges, and extortion.

That happened to me once too...lol....

Actually, IMO, there is more honest people than a lot think. Most people would prolly return it to the lost and found at least. They would want the same to be done if they lost something.

    Some would keep it though:mad:.

Several years ago we moved into our brandnew house in this small town.
Hubby and I were up here several times before our actual move-in day and he left his wallet on the counter at the local grocery store.
The next evening we were back at the new house and the first visitor who rang our doorbell was a local police officer. He looked at us and the picture in hubby's wallet and said he figured the wallet belonged to us and handed it over.

We never thought to ask how they found out where we were to return the wallet, as we still hadn't formally moved in to the house.

Yes, even in California there are some places where honesty is still practiced and appreciated.

It still happens man. Years ago I found a wallet and called the guy.

He said if he ever saw me "out on the town" he'd buy. Well he did! Probably would have been cheaper for him if I kept the wallet that night but we had fun!

What goes around comes around in some weird way.

The lady who found it said that the reason she didn't turn it into lost and found was because she didn't trust them! WOW!

It's the Men In Black... They know where you are and what you are doing all the time.

Thanks man. Just make sure you spread the word! LOL! :mouth:

Hmmm...I'll have to remember that if I ever find your wallet. Just because LA gives the rest of CA a bad rap, much like NYC in New York, doesn't mean that the rest of the state is just as slimy. The only time we've ever had anything stolen was when we were in a little cowpoke town with about 200 people in the middle of nowhere PA. Bad things happen everywhere. It's too bad we are suprised when a good thing is looked upon as a miracle, but I guess this is the times we're living in now.

At where I work I once accidently gave a guy $40 (equiv.) more in change that he should have recieved.

He actually came back later in the day to return to me the extra change I had given him.

Proof that the world is still full of good people.

If I am honest, I probably would have done a little dance and kept the extra change.

I'd return a wallet however. All those cards you have to cancel and wait to recieve back etc.

Jacerovone, Great to hear you got the wallet back. That reminds me of a few years back my wife and I were in Vegas. She left here purse in a cab after a few to many Margaritas!. We called every cab company in town looking for it with no luck. The purse had a new pair of diomond earings, credit cards and some cash. Early the next morning after we canceled all the cards we got a call from the cab driver and he had found the purse. He had heard the call on the radio after she lost it, but had picked us up where he wasn't supposed to so he couldn't respond.
He told us where to pick it up. everything was in place and we left the driver a reward for his help and honesty.

Viper, glad to hear that your wife got her purse back. Losing anything, especially due to a plain stupid mistake hurts just a bit more.

BTW, what the heck is up with the corn cam! That is crazy! LOL. Its like my wife watching the Aspen cam. She loves that place. Joe

I am so happy for you and GOD Bless the woman who returned your wallet (as well as other posters here). there are still people out there with integrity and who will do the right thing. Too bad we see it as an abberration anymore. it is as easy to do the right thing as it is the wrong, and is so much more rewarding in the long run!
    best wishes all,
    steve
