I've been wanting to post some pictures on this forum for a while now and this is my first attempt. Let's see what you folks think.
VERY NICE. But you shouldn't post a coin of that greatness....it will make members jealous:goofer: stainless
The reason why I wanted opinions is because I used a HP photo mart c-4100 series scanner. I tried using my daughters sony digital and wasn't satisfied with the results....no macro setting. Hence the scanner. Got some pointers from some old threads (GDJMSP especially helpfull advice regarding scanning images).
I'll give you $84 for it. (not an offer to buy, just a joke) LOL, nice coin, she sure is a beauty IMHO! :thumb: Phoenix
I was hoping you would chime in here GDJMSP. I bought this coin back in 1973 and it was the first gold coin that I ever purchased. I bought it at a time when the price of gold was $32 an ounce...actually the day after the government lifted the $32 level and allow gold to seek it's proper level. I tucked this coin away for many years and when I got back into the hobby in the late '90s I pulled it out of mothballs and re-examined it. I tend to agree with your opinion. I did indeed buy an overgraded coin but I love it none the less and as you see it has remained in it's original holder for the past 30 or so years.
Thought you might get a chuckle out of the holder...my main objective here was to get your take on the picture quality.
The pic quality is fine, but I would have cropped the image to remove the holder and made the pic a bit larger.
Have scanned a number of reverse images....seems to be getting worse, not better...oh well, just an experiment. Wanted to see if I could employ the scanner to post pictures. Somewhat successful. Birthday coming up soon....maybe I can drop a few hints for a digital camera with macro capabilities.
Very nice coin! And don't listen to those other offers - I think I could go $110. Just kidding - very nice coin.
Ken - Nice pics and even better coin. Funny how $80+ dollars back than was overpriced. Apparently it was a good investment. Did you get anymore back then?
