I think it's Greek. Head of Zeus, cuirass looking thing on the reverse. Maybe I'm missing something? the thing weighs 3.17 grams and has around 18 mm. Not exact on the mm though. Im not in the mood for HQ pics so I'm sorry in advance. Screen Shot 2019-11-19 at 5.51.44 PM.png Screen Shot 2019-11-19 at 5.51.56 PM.png

Is the legend for this variety in Greek or Phoenician? Or maybe some have both? I've been researching this coin and I can't find anything on the legend. This is the one that closest resembles my coin though: https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/sh...5__145_bc_zeus__ships_ram/438582/Default.aspx

I have also tried to translate the legend for the readable µ
    for Phoenician: MeM RIME∏
    for Greek: MP

And what about dating the coin? Is there markings to look for to "date" it?

I have struggled with the dates on these. I read the books, I try to decipher the date, but then I find a professionally cataloged example with the same date that has been deciphered differently.

    For example,
    zeusprow-both.jpg
Phoenicia, Arados, Era date 215: CIE (beth) 45/4 BC, AE15, 3.82g
Obv: Braided, bearded head of Zeus r.; within circle of dots
Rev: Prow of galley l. with Athena Promachos fighting as figure-head; above ΙΔ; below CΙΕ
Ref: Duyrat série 10, SNG Copenhagen 382 (as uncertain mint), BMC Phoenicia p. 297 #2

The legend has Greek, Latin, and Phoenician letters together, which is unusual! I struggled with it until I found the examples in Copenhagen and the BM.

There is a long thread on Arados bronzes on another forum which is very helpful to understanding the dates.
