I am one of the lucky ones and am awaiting the arrival of my 2019 enhanced reverse proof eagle.

I am more of a bullion guy and I know nothing about grading and would appreciate opinions as to whether I should have it graded or just keep it as received.

    Thanks for any advise.

Unless you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it will grade PF70DCAM (or UCAM), it will be a waste of your money to submit it for grading.

I would have been lucky, when I expected to pay with Paypal, the option was not there so by the time I got a card out it froze up on me and that was all she wrote. I have to wonder why the Paypal option was removed that morning, I made a purchase with the Mint the month before and used Paypal, makes you wonder!

I disagree with those who say grading is not worth it if it does not grade 70. It will protect it from the elements, provide extra security that it is genuine when selling one day down the road, and still possibly be worth more than in OGP if you have first strike/early release on the holder.

I doubt it would grade a 68 but it's still not worth the cost do find out.

One suggestion: Keep the OGP with it (if you get it slabbed) so you can offer the entire package should you ever decide to sell it.

A very few PF69's have sold on eBay. They seem to go for not much more than raw coins. I have no idea what the percentages are running for 70 vs. 69 vs. lower.

Down the road first strike/early release will mean nothing. Those designators are marketing gimmicks that add nothing to the real value of the coin. They are only an issue at this point in time because being first is important in the current collecting environment. In reality, the mint uses a first in - last out inventory process. So the first strikes are probably the last out. Knowing this may reduce the value to a serious, knowledgeably collector. There is only one first strike coin and the mint keeps it.

Nope, I disagreed because I actually disagree. Come on man, let it go. Like another poster said, right now, 69's are going for about same price as raw. 70's are more than double raw. Seems like a pretty decent $40 gamble to me.

I actually hope you are right. I think first strike/early release is just a gimmick, and it means nothing to me personally. BUT, they have both been out for awhile now, and the market still seems to prefer them to normal graded, so I would go ahead and add it on if I was grading mine.

I'm in the OGP camp. Most of these will grade out at least '69 and a few at'70, but you've got to know your 'apples' to distinguish between the two grades. And you've also got to rely on what the grader had at either breakfast or lunch because the stomach drives most of these folks. Also, many are young and inexperienced and rely upon a senior grader for a final opinion..........Ya want it graded? Buy it graded.

I was one of the unlucky ones. I got in just as the page opened to accept purchases and within 2 minutes was on the final page to pay. When I clicked to confirm the order the page stalled and eventually timed out. I tired several times to get back in but each time got a page error message. By the time I got back in at about 5 minutes, the Eagle was no longer available. I don't know what I did wrong or was just unlucky with the system. In any case, I will now have to try to get the Eagle on the secondary market.

Still waiting on mine and been mulling over this question also. To grade or not to grade, that is the question.

Here's where I'm at on it. These are now selling around 10x mint issue price or higher. $650.00 or better for a PR69 or raw. It's going to cost another around $100 to get this graded and getting you in at about $166 or so total give or take. If you get a 70 back you are roughly tripling that $650 though.

And with PCGS, they are also grading and encapsulating the COA for an additional $15. I thought this was kind of jenky at first but I did some digging and found that Mint Director David Ryder hand signed the first 100 numbers of COAS near his facsimile signature.

I would think a matched set, PR70 and hand signed would fetch an even higher premium. COA # 00001 could be sky's the limit as a graded set PR70.

Even if you're in for $200 and it's worth $300 you are doing good in my opinion but there's a chance to do great for that extra $100 or so.

The caveat. You have to Send in the set mint sealed to get the coin and COA graded as a set.

For these reasons I've come to the conclusion of getting it graded and rolling the dice. Maybe it drops when the fire wears off on the secondary market, maybe a lot, maybe a little but I can't imaging this being worth less than 3x the mints offering price in which case is a break even proposition if that happens. But I don't think that happens really.

I think the flippers will run out of inventory and push it up to a point they can't sell the few remaining and lower it some to sell the last few and then they are in the hands of collectors and it's gonna take money to pry one away from a collector.

But just my opinion. Where they are priced at now seems like a good idea to gamble on that PR70 grade and the 1:300 odds you get a hand signed COA, and even if you just get the PR70 back, Sell that now for around $2000 and rebuy a raw coin and pocket the $1000 or so profit if you want to.

I bought mine just to keep for my collection but I gotta say, this whole thing has me thinking...

Since they were all sold out in 2 minutes or whatever, they're all First Strike/Early Releases.

The only thing is you have to send the US MINT shipping box to the TPG to get that label. So it depends if you put value in that label, which for the people that know, won't mean anything because they are all first strike just by definition of the timeline of when they were bought.

I too got on line that Thursday and after several refresh it went through and said order confirmed. Then later the next day I read on here your suppose to get an email from the mint. I did not so I guess I was excited for nothin. But the mint reduced my bank account balance by 70.90 cost w ship of the coin. I guess they hold it then put it back.. only 70.90 but its still mine..

I have Gmail and found my confirmation notices and shipping details in a sub folder on my phone called "promotions" instead of the primary folder. Check if that applies to you also.

Yeah, if the Mint charged your card, I'm pretty sure you're getting the coin. I haven't heard of them charging a card and then refunding it on any previous issues.

That's assuming the price level holds as more examples come back from the TPGs and hit the market. I'd expect the price to drop when that happens -- but I expected the price to drop on raw examples as more people get them in hand, and that's certainly not happening.

LOL! It's not a very successful marketing gimmick if they don't publicize it...
