I have been searching ebay for the past week, and noticed a lot of replicas of many different types of coins....what is the point to these? Does anyone actually collect them?

Some people like them as the next best thing. My problem is not the replicas, but that eBay doesn't have a separate category for them, so you have to sift through all that stuff to see the real things.

Same thing with cars, guns, knives, etc. As long as there are people that want something but can't afford the real thing, next best thing is a replica. The markets are flooded with immatation or fake Samuri swords, for instance.
Many, many thousands of Mauser Broom Handle guns were made in many countries to copy the German one. Japan once made tons of Black Forest Hunding knives. Not long ago a company was making 1955 Thunderbird Cars again. People just want things they can't have.

With very rare coins, a really good quality copy is the only thing most collectors can afford.

Ebay has proven that EVERYTHING is collectible.

They wouldn't be selling them if nobody was buying . Well the world has ended Cubs just beat the White Sox 4-3 .

Some can be useful. They can fill that gap in your album where the 1 of 6 half a million dollar coin should be.

But I have the same problem as scottishmoney.
I find myself searching through dozens of replicas to get to the real thing.

And now they have 60's reproduction Fastback Mustangs, Camaro's, 32 Fords, etc.

Basically the entire shell, with full title.

As a Cubs fan that is very welcome news and back to the topic it keeps a lot of Chinese people in work

Yes and just think if we didn't like those fakes the Chinese make, they'll send us more Leaded toys. One thing I noticed about the Chinese fakes is some look better than the presidential dollars we make.
As a person that grew up near that stupid Cubs park and never saw a title, all I can say is this will be a normal repeat, of nothing. At least we never paid to get in that place. Just sneaked in on Waveland accross from the fire station.
