1984 lincoln cent strikethrough?

    On the reverse, top left corners of memorial bldg appears to be a strike through that fell out and was struck into the field left corner of bldg. On obverse above date is the impression from the strike through on reverse. Opinions welcome! 1102-12.jpg

    Damage. See the raised areas on the right hand side? That's displaced metal. Whatever hit the coin pushed the metal up on the edges. This is a key characteristic in distinguishing damage from strike through errors.

    Go back and look at your steel cent with the staple scratch and you'll see some light metal displacement on it as well.
