little help please? I got this coin from a old timer I did work for about a year ago. And was going to sale and give the funds to a family down the road from me who’s house burned down last night. I was wondering if the weight was right? And if anyone thought it may not be real. He got the coin from his safe and looked like it had been there awhile.

Thanks for looking. Does it look real to you? I would hate to sale something that wasn’t real. And I don’t think this guy would have a fake coin. I’ve known him a very long time. And with the dust on the safe looked like it hadn’t been opened in years lol.

I also have a 1812 half dollar in almost au shape. And you can clearly see a 1 in behind the two and what’s left of one. It looks like a large 8 also? But I don’t understand the whole Overton thing? Any advice on if I should have it graded? It or the cc? And thanks again for looking real help to a unschooled collector like me

Only thing that bug's me is with the arrows in the eagles talon the tip's look blunt. the color look's good. but I am no expert on coins...possible weak strike.. can you put the obverse on the coin on here .. above the n in one the berries look like an upside down u..
send it in to get graded.

Checking mm placement without pups of the obv. Is rather tough ,but comparing mm placements as well as styles , as well the arrow head point.I believe the 1893 cc to be fake.
I wish it was genuine to aid you in your quest of helping a family in need.
I salute you sir...as by certain" you are genuine " as well given us promise as to there are still good people who just care! Thank you!

I looked at it very close and you can see a star between the date as if it had been used before and melted down and reused again? Or do they even do that at the mint? And can’t say thanks enough. I just wouldn’t dare sale something I knew was fake and who ever decided to start making fake coins I Hope is listening

I guess what got me 2nd looking at it was on the reverse the tops of the L’s and N and D were fat and squared and the photos I looked at on pcgs web didn’t look like that they were more skinny and not as fat and square. Some of the letters looked fine but those threw me a curve ball and knuckle ball at same time??

Bless you on your honorable quest. Sadly, yes counterfeit Morgan dollars are surprisingly easy to come by these days. I applaud your morals. Too many these days would try to sell the piece without regard for authenticity. My initial response with yours is that I am leaning towards authentic yet there are areas that give me pause. And if @Paddy54 believes it to be counterfeit then I would have to agree. He is among the best at coin recognition. I do wish you the best of luck.
